Bill Lucas
Professor Bill Lucas is a motivational speaker, facilitator, author and learning strategist. He combines a number of portfolio roles – for example co-director of the new Centre for Real-World Learning at the University of Winchester, trustee of The English Project and non-executive director of The Live Group plc – with running his own business, The Bill Lucas Partnership. Bill has a long history of innovation in learning. While CEO of the Campaign for Learning, he created Learning at Work Day and Family Learning Weekend. Prior to this he was the Chief Executive of Learning through Landscapes. And before this he was in leadership positions in a number of schools in Oxfordshire and London. In 2000 Bill called for the creation of a national strategy for learning for the UK and suggested that everyone should have an LP, a Learning Practitioner who can act as their coach and critical friend. It is this passion for helping and motivating people to learn that led Bill to not only become part of The Talent Foundation, but play an active part during its ‘incubation’ period at the Campaign for Learning. He has advised many organisations, including the UK government, Lloyds TSB, National Grid, Microsoft, JCB, Select Education, the National College for School Leadership, a number of universities and hospitals, and the Australian National Training Authority. He is a regular contributor to radio and TV and has written numerous books and articles about learning and motivation.
